Title: AFA Legit or Not??
Post by: robhay77 on December 17, 2007, 10:00:03 PM
Are these guys legit? This agency sells email addresses but how do you know that your not corresponding with a guy on the other end?  Do these agencies even verify the girls on their websites...I have a hard time believing that they have the time or resources to do these types of things.

Anastasia and dream-marriage.com both charge money to send and read letters.  In addition i hear they refuse the exchanging of emails or numbers.  I'm thinking this who industry is a scam...tell me if i'm wrong.

NEVER use Anastasia for ANYTHING!  Completely bogus company.  I used them about 2-3 years ago.  The mail & telephone services were complete Bullshxx, and many men complained that the "Women" they had been corresponding with for months, never even showed up when they came to visit during the tour.

While my experience was ok, it was in the extreme minority and their business practices are so deceptive that they should not be rewarded.  I would not even refer an enemy to them!  I wrote about them on a russian thread in 2005, if you want more details.

AFA doesnt check much of anything-except how many times they can sell the girl. Their women are almost like used cars. . . . Tour agencies are all about the same. EXTREMELY LOW success rates, lots of gold diggers or worse and agency claims about how wonderful and sincere their girls are. Like they even know their names or occupations. . .

10 days to engagement- hahahahahahaha. Although the owners all married russians, they didnt do it in ten days. More like a regular dating and then live-in relationship overseas going on a year or more.  Yet, they kinda lead you to believe that they did it on a romance tour. More like a dozen romance tours.

Your WRONG!

Be smart about what you are seeking.  Ask questions.  If you are set on a Russian woman, than find the Russian sister site to this board and ask questions there too.  There are many success stories, but many have come after some hard knocks.

Good luck!

There are several smaller and more personal agencies listed on this site and on the Russian site if you are looking at eastern Europe. You need to do a little bit of research into this.

THe whole agency is definitely not a scam. But it takes work to find a decent person. . . .

There are 3 types of agencies (who may combine functions)

1. Correspondence, sells addresses
2. Group tour
3. personal introductions

My personal opinion is that the first ranges from very low rates of legitimate return to a outright scam.

The second is maybe OK, if a guy wants to see some sights and doesn't yet have a lot of confidence.  AFA is brilliant at marketing and "legit", they do deliver something and its what they promise (a trip, some sights, hotel rooms, some big parties, and you can have one on ones but your chances of finding the right woman in 10 days in St. Petersburg or the Ukraine or Medellin are infetesimal.  If you do an AFA tour, walk into a room with 10 to 14 other American guys with nametags on and you see 200-300 women, very few who speak English, almost all who have paid nothing and you don't speak Russsian or Spanish or Martian, the translators have to wear roller skates to cover all the conversations.

Basic law of international romance, you can't see some sights, cut the right girl out of a crowd of 200-300 and develop a relationship in 10 days.  Some of the tour companies (like AFA) deliver exactly what they promise, except the venue and the time to make something happen with a girl. And if something does happen, you have to go back to that country anyway.

Personal introductions agencies are probably the best and the most reputable and they range in service.  If you go this route, you want an agency where the girls pay a fee to join.

There are not that many personal introduction agencies in Russia becasue its such a huge country and almost all American's can't and won't travel by themselves. So the correspondence agency  scam has become a huge indsutry because too many american men are too F-----G stupid to do their homework.

Keep doing your homework, keep doing your research, keep asking questions.  Guys on this board know the answers.

Also do an Internet search for Jim's agency scams.

http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com AKA RWD.

Anything and everything you would need to know about FSUW, travel, and relationships.

Just as an FYI: Many who have been around this industry and international relationships for a long time believe that Jims Agency Scams is as much of a scam as those agencies that he supposedly is trying to save you from. To be on his "good" list you must pay him. If you don't pay him you will end up on the grey or black list.

Beat me to it catz. Same goes for the wonderful world of AFA. Working girls plying their trades at the socials in Europe, a long affiliation with porno companies through their subsidiary K4I, questionable advertising practices, lowest success rates in the biz, in my opinion.

Just the kind of agency I would find a wife through.

AFA should really become illegal.  It is like ordering a beautiful dress but received with a broken zip.........
