I went out and drove around Medellin at rush hour today and there were so few cars on the road that it seemed surreal and some how  apocalyptic.

I don't know what it is like in poor barrios but when you don't have to worry about food or money everyone here in the strata 5 and 6 barrios stay home

There could be plenty of infected people here that just aren't sick enough to go to the doctor

The demographics of Colombia is a lot different than the USA  Colombianos no average are about 10 years younger than the average American

NY times..in worst hit part of the country and still trying to expropriate money off of people to.read their articles

Anyway I think I get the jest of it. ThaTs why Duque imposed a total National Quarantine so early in the game.

You probably won't like this source either.

From CNN: Bill Gates: State-by-state shutdown won't work
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation co-founder Bill Gates says that the US should shutdown the entire country for a short period of time to control the spread of the coronavirus and predicts that the number of cases will peak in late April.

It's exponential.  Hard truth here.  We could even 'think' that we're 'over it'--clean and then, another pocket is discovered and we have to do it ALL over again. Imagine the economy then.

I don't give it up to big Bill often, but he nailed it here, unfortunately.

Tough times ahead. Just like 9/11 changed our lives, I imagine this will too...

Yea--ever since that Mexican Carlos Slim bought the largest, controlling interest in the NY Times, it's been different. Then there's that Rupert Murdoch---the Christian, Aussie owner of the Wall Street Journal, NY Post and Fox News-----it's getting harder for people to blame the sad state of news reporting on the Jews!

Haters gonna hate, and people are gonna, fair or not, take out their frustrations on different sources/groups.

But overall, right or left, I think news reporting is less truthful and objective than ever. Even after I have checked several sources, I am often suspicious.

Pretty obvious US and Canada should have imposed a police and Armed Forces imposed national Quarantine a long time ago. This "social Distancing" crap doesnt work

Severe problems require severe measures. Our democratic measures, our 'checks and balances' between states, provinces etc are inadequate.

I remember feeling awful as a kid when my Southern Italian born Grandmother would praise WWII fascist dictator Benito  Mussolini, explaining how when Italy was in the throes of paralysis:

"Bobby---he made the trains run again"

And especially in S America, they love 'leaders' like that.

Give me liberty or give me death.

Ok don't think Americans could handle the kinds of restrictions that they have here in Colombia

If things get really bad in the US there will be 2 million less elderly and sick folks around and we'll just blame China for it

Well.......it appears that as people more than ever before live in cities of many million populations, therein lies the problem.

Densely packed like bees in a hive are like human laboratory petri dishes perfect to grow viruses.

Mean while jets come and go day and night, spreading any contagion worldwide.

Nobody's died in Wyoming yet--I'll bet Jackon Hole's weather and women are fine about now--the Grand Tetons certainly are...
