Carnival in Japan
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:15:46 PM »
.....and you thought it was only in Brazil ;D

They claim to be the largest Carnival outside of Brazil.......although I think the good people of New Orleans, Louisiana,  Veracruz, Mexico,  and Port of Spain, Trinidad (and several other places) may have a different opinion about that.

I remember years ago when the government officials of Olongapo City in the Philippines thought it would be a great idea to have their own Mardi Gras. Of course the locals called it "Mardi Grass". LOL!

So they blocked off the main street and most of the bars and night clubs moved their tables and chairs along with the bands out into the street for a wild party.

The Navy base commander cancelled all off-base liberty that day so it was just a huge flop in the end.
