Pink paper today! Visa approved!
« on: March 20, 2006, 10:42:50 AM »
:D Well thanks to Ray for the amazing advice and info. I wrote a two page letter after my fiancee recieved her dreaded "blue paper", sent it by three day Global express guaranteed, had my fiancee hand deliver it, and it worked!
The lady said I should be a lawyer and not a technician. haha.
Anyway, my fiancee was approved today after submitting that letter, and will pick up her VISA wednesday!!!

She should be here next week, so now I"m totally baffled as to what I have to do next. Any advice on what paperwork or actions I have to take next will be much appreciated! Thanks again to Ray!!! :!: :D  :D

WOW! Excellent news Noah!

Advice on what paperwork or actions come next?

1. Clean house. Don’t worry, it will never be good enough (LOL).

2. Buy a sack (20 lb) of good rice. Thai Jasmine rice is a good choice. Maybe an electric rice cooker would be nice too but optional at first. Should be less than $40?

3. Take as much time off work as you can get when she arrives. Try not to leave her home alone too much in the first month or so until she starts to adjust.

4. Buy some prepaid phone cards and encourage her to call home.

5. Go out of your way to find some of her favorite foods and try not to feed her too much Western food at first. Look for Asian markets in your area. Don’t complain if some foods smell like hell when cooking! LOL

6. About 2 weeks after she arrives, go to local SSA office and apply for her SS Card. Don’t let them tell her she needs employment authorization from CIS because that’s BS. Bring passport, I-94, and Birth Cert.

7. Make sure you marry within the 90 days!!!

8. After you get an official certified copy of your marriage certificate, you can apply for AOS. Download the forms and start studying them when you have a chance. Forms I-485, I-864, G-325A, I-765, I-131.

Keep us updated and good luck,

Ray

Thanks for the congrats. It's the happiest feeling in the world. After waiting soooooooo long you really just hope things will go smoothly, but nothing is certain.
Thanks again to Ray for the advice on what to do when she gets here.. but clean the house? wow, that's a tough one! haha.
My step mom is Chinese and I lived in Asia for many years, so the food part is easy. Asian food is all I ever eat. Phone is taken care of as well.

The legal stuff is what I was really clueless about. Thanks again!!!
