Airfare to Medellin
« on: November 17, 2017, 09:36:51 AM »
I was thinking about a December trip to Medellin but the airfare is really high! As in near the end of December so the high demand season around Xmas and New Years.

I think I will defer to January when the price for tickets is about half as much as December.

It seems like there are not many great options from the west coast of the USA to Medellin...like flight times are at really odd hours. It is times like this I wish I lived in Miami....a quick/easy 3 hour direct flight to Medellin.

I think that almost across the board, local or international flights originating in the USA cost more each month going from Oct. Nov, Dec. They're nailing my ass on domestic fares across airlines and hubs and I'm even plugging in weird hours with almost no time for switching between gates, booking late nights. It sucks, pure opportunism, as we've noticed the planes aren't full , not nearly a lot of the time.

I may just bite the bullet and go. You only live once and late December/early January is a very convenient time for me to be away from the office.

I don't know what city you are flying out of but Spirit is usually the least expensive for me.

If you want to meet chicas for the first time..good luck getting them away fromntheir families during this period. (dec. 24th to January 1).

If you dont have friends in Colombia, this can be a really lonely period.

I have been lucky always to be invited to spend the day wiih families  on Christmas Eve or New Years,

Best to go After New Years when they still have Holidays and have more free time and not so wound up in their families.

Los Angeles...yes, Spirit was in my searches though I think they have less of a presence here than other markets.

Yeah, I'll probably go in early or mid-January when prices are more reasonable and the "family" thing due to the holidays is less of an issue.

If you can get a decent price on a ticket with little opportunity costs for travelling around Christmas....you should go to Medellin anyway. Because a bad day in Medellin is still better than a good day in LA....or so I have been told....it has a reputation for being one of the toughest dating markets in the world.

The rock band, 'The Eagles'-- and they oughta know, talked about rejection and how shallow dating women in L.A. was.  Recently, guitarist and fellow wrist watch aficionado, John Mayer, spoke in an interview how women in LA get off on rejecting him so they can tell their friends: " I turned down John Mayer" and he'd rather surf porn sites. La la land indeed...

If you plan to do any in country travel with Avianca watch out! Their long pilot strike has recently ended and they have jacked prices sky high (no pun intended) to compensate for their losses. For example pre strike airfare Cali-Medellin was around $400.000. I checked their price for the hell of it the other day and price was $1'756.000. That's Cali to Medellin!!!
Hermosamente feliz

Definitely....a bad day anywhere in Colombia is better than a good day in LA.

Really? I always considered better for dating than Man Diego, so it's all relative...

Yes, Colombia > Los Angeles for dating women.

LA vs. Man Diego ? Not sure but I'll take Colombia over them both.
