Movie Coming Out Soon: "La Colombiana"

There is a new movie coming out within the next month called "La Colombiana" starring one of my favorites Zoe Saldana. If you google it you can find the official website with trailers. Looks like it will be a pretty good movie.

There is also a movie being shot in Santa Marta, Colombia called "Skinny Dip" which is starring former: Danny Trejo hottie Pam Grier, Michael Madsen, Brigitte Nielsen, and former porn star Sasha Grey. They say it is going to be kind of like a "Grindhouse" or "Machete" type movie.

Those sound great. Colombian made movie SALUDA AL DIABLO DE MI PARTE just opened today in Cali.

I wonder how many times the same script has been used.  Kid witnesses the parents' murder and this sets the stage for approximately 90 minutes of violent action.

I showed the trailer to my wife ... she wants to see the movie as she likes action flicks ... lucky for me as my ex-wife never liked them.

However, she said Zoe Saldana doesn't look anything like a colombiana ... she doesn't have the face or body of a colombia (which of course she isn't).

Looking forward to Skinny Dip ... would love to see Santa Marta on the big screen ...

Good eye NC, I omitted a key word there. It should have read Danny Trejo, and FORMER hottie Pam Grier. I checked out some recent pics of her and fo sho she is a few years past her prime to say the least.

Did you know that Danny Trejo is between 5'5" and 5'7" depending on which source you go with. I thought he was like 6'

I'm definitely going to see it ... will try to keep my expectations low so as not to be disappointed.

I mean, how can you not want to see a movie entitled "La Colombiana"?

Just got back from watching this movie. It really sucked big time. from 0-100 I would give it about 15. Poor acting, lack of star power. Bad plot. Super bad portraying every single Colombian as a murderer or involved with drug trade.

I knew it was going to be a horrible move when the small girl who is maybe 9 years old tracks down her uncle who himself is a murdering drug guy, and he is trying to get her into school, then all of the sudden the little girl says that she does not want to go to school.....she would rather receive training as an assassin....and the uncle is looking at her sweet innocent face.....and after a very long pause, just says "OK". WTF? Really bad. I believe any Colombian watching this one is going to get offended. I am not even going to mention it to my wife again.

As for Zoe Saldana not being Colombian, well, there is no Colombian actress that is famous in the US, perhaps besides Sofia Vergara of course, and I just don't see how Vergara could be cast in that role.  In fact, I know of only two other Colombian actresses in Hollywood, and they are not famous at all.  And Saldana has done martial arts in the movies before, so she has training and experience for this type of a movie.  At least she is Dominican.  I remember when they did the Zorro movie and couldn't find a Hispanic actress for it.
 
I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't comment on the plot.  And I have heard of some Colombians being offended.  However, let's see...  After "Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso", "El Cartel", "Rosario Tijeras", and many more like that they get offended at the "Colombiana"?  Come on!  I am all for being objective, and that Colombia is usually portrayed unfairly, but as far as movies are concerned, they can't blame the foreigners.

The worst movie I've seen in a long while. IMHO not worth worth watching.
